Choose one region or landmark on the trail (either one mentioned in the book or another location of your choice), and write about the history of that location. Consider the ecosystem and how different human groups may have perceived and interacted with it.

The Oregon Trail passes through numerous Indigenous territories. Select a tribe whose land was used to create the trail, and research that tribe’s history. Consider its traditional lifestyle, families, beliefs, and important events from the past to the present.
