Despite that act, God struck the mob blind and helped Lot, his wife, and his daughters escape from Sodom. OneCorn gives the unnamed women names: Edo, Moa, and Amma. In her telling, Lot’s wife, Edo, cannot keep herself from looking back at the city; she feels abandoned by Lot after he offered up their daughters.

OneCorn elaborates on what she sees as the underlying theme of Genesis. It is a book about warring brothers, from Cain and Abel to Lot and Abraham. She notes that, in each of the pairings, a farmer is pitted against a hunter-gatherer. She stands firmly on the side of the hunter-gatherers and wanderers, like Abraham.
