Teaching Suggestion: Another topic you may want to consider is the way in which Jewish characters are portrayed in the novel. It will be helpful for students to have access to the novel and their answers to the Reading Questions for reference. Because the discussion questions cover a variety of topics over the course of the novel, students may want to begin by brainstorming notes before responding. Specific questions might instead be assigned to small groups for brief discussion; then representative speakers might share with the larger group their group’s conclusions.
