Chapter 25 Summary

On their way out of the park, Melody reflects on her and Beat’s relationship. She wants to be friends with him, but she still feels romantically attracted to him, too. Finally, they arrive at Melody’s apartment. Beat studies the space, running his hands over the furniture, while he tells Melody what he wants from their relationship. He appreciates their friendship but also wants more. Melody suggests that they have something to eat while Beat tells her what he wanted to say in the park. She makes them a snack, and Beat opens up about Fletcher, his paternity, his reputation, and why he needs the live stream money. Melody is shocked but encourages Beat to tell Octavia and Rudy so they can help him. She sits on his lap and thanks him for opening up to her. Then she pours them some drinks, and they lie on the couch together. Holding each other, they each think about how grateful they are to be together.

Chapter 26 Summary

Beat and Melody start kissing and touching each other. Then, they have sex, talking intimately throughout. They each silently marvel at how connected they feel. Finally, Beat orgasms while still inside of Melody. Then he collapses next to her, fulfilled, relieved, and grateful.
